Newport Hydrangeas

Watercolor on paper, painted on location in Newport, Rhode Island A classic New England summer scene: overflowing hydrangeas in shades of blue, purple, and pink fill the foreground in front of a shingled house. An American flag hangs from the white porch, framed by green trees and a soft blue sky. The loose, vibrant watercolor washes capture the lush texture of the blooms and the bright coastal light. Painted during hydrangea season on location in Newport, this piece holds the particular color and feeling of a Rhode Island summer afternoon.
